Michael Setzer

President, Transit

Mike’s role as President of the Transit Business Unit is another key milestone in his exemplary career in transportation. He and his team oversee some 80 contracts with transit agencies in 200 cities and communities for bus and paratransit, delivering on our promises to clients while working to improve the passenger experience. He is responsible to execute our strategic plan and support our partnerships with clients on a variety of new mobility services and options. He will also help our transit leadership team on succession planning.

For six years, Mike served admirably as CEO of our Nassau County contract in Long Island, the largest contracted transit system in the U.S. Mike is well-known in our industry and widely respected. He was previously CEO of three other major transit authorities in Cincinnati, (SORTA), St. Louis, (Metro) and Minneapolis-St. Paul (Metro Transit). In those positions, he improved service quality, successfully reversed budget deficits, managed a wide variety of capital improvement projects, and built relationships based in trust and transparency with multiple stakeholders.

Mike has won multiple APTA Innovation Awards and has been Chair of numerous APTA Committees. Mass Transit Magazine selected him “one of the “most influential people of the decade” in 2014. His academic credentials include an MBA in Management from Xavier University in Cincinnati and a degree in Economics at the University of Minnesota.
