We have an excellent track record
Transdev’s rail portfolio includes some of the most historic systems in the world, like the famous double decker “ding dings” of Hong Kong and historic green Pearly Thomas streetcars travelling up and down St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans. Our rail systems move passengers in Miami, Seoul, Mumbai, Brisbane (AU), Wellington (NZ), and a plethora of locations throughout France, and Germany.
Based largely on our success in rail operations around the world, cities in North America are recognizing that the Transdev difference delivers strong operations, safety and customer care.
We began operations of the Cincinnati Modern Streetcar in September 2016; we will begin operations of Detroit’s M-1 Rail Modern streetcar, the QLINE, in spring 2017; and in Canada we have been selected to operate a segment of Edmonton’s newest light rail system. We are already hard at work preparing for the launches of these upcoming systems.
The Transdev difference isn’t about only operating rail systems safely and efficiently. It’s about embracing the entire dynamic transportation landscape of each city and working to achieve intermodal harmony at hubs and destinations. Rail is often the backbone of a successful transit system. When planned, integrated and operated effectively, it can serve the multi-modal needs of many passengers.
Today’s passengers expect every digital tool available to help them navigate familiar and unfamiliar systems. Transdev has launched digital ticketing systems and real-time next bus/train arrival information to provide seamless transport on multiple modes and are offering our clients new services to link riders with stations and stops. And we continue to explore emerging technology trends to continually refine how we enhance every mile of a journey.
Transdev coordinates our passenger operations and expertise with new major rail construction projects for many clients. We help clients see the operational implications of decisions that are made in the construction phase of the project. We are proud to offer our unique expertise and point of view to these new projects prior to our beginning operational service. We routinely manage, direct, organize and coordinate the work of a wide variety of contractors, including the integration of work plans, project schedules, safety plans and the use of agency-furnished material.
We support new rail construction efforts by providing operations planning expertise, assisting in the development of detailed construction staging and phasing plans. Through our talented team at our infrastructure subsidiary, VTMI, we also execute specialized railroad construction work and maintenance of way (MOW) on existing infrastructure. Through every aspect, Transdev supervises and helps finalize and execute plans, safety performance and staff training.
As part of our typical project management responsibility, we often assume the role of on-site Project Manager, generating integrated schedules, progress reports and financial management services for our clients.
In everything we do at Transdev, we strive to deliver on the promise of excellence in rail—safe, reliable, comfortable and environmentally-friendly travel for our passengers with great efficiency and value for our clients.
We use the latest technology to streamline train scheduling, dispatch and communications. We analyze passenger loads, redesign service and strive to help our clients integrate rail operations with other transportation modes to make connections seamless and easy for passengers. Our maintenance software helps clients save on capital costs by getting more from their existing assets.
Through our global experience, we have built proprietary scheduling, maintenance and efficiency simulation modeling programs to maximize vehicle use since reliability is so important to passengers. We work to help our clients connect rail and bus schedules, and to quickly provide passengers with a flawless station-to-station transportation bridge when rail operations are interrupted.
We make bold declarations and stand by our word. Explore more and discover why cities turn to Transdev to make the difference.
